Ashton Arkwright was an ordinary bandit, member of a gang that operated on the border of Nulnul and Garalabi. Although the Great shift caused some changes, their leader, the Ox, went missing, and almost the entire gang changed bodies, including half of them with women, but it did not stop the gang's thug drives. They even increased them, the chaos after the change made them go unpunished in the beginning, and they were able to easily invade villages where they could safely, burn, rob, rape and kill innocent people. Even after the situation had calmed down, they continued to attack the merchants' trains or torment the villagers. Eventually, however, the time came for them and during one of the robberies they were caught by the king's men. Initially, they were to be hanged, but King Reinere, wanting to get his son out of the Sultan's harem, signed a contract, all the women in prisons wuth death sentence, no matter if they were previously men or not will be handed over to the Sultan. So while the male part of their gang will still be hanged, the female part will face a maybe even a worse fate.
